We have been running Fellow Hills Pastoral since 2001. Our daughter, Indi, was born in 2007 and has grown up on the farm. Both Abby and Indi are passionate about horses and compete in Polo, Polo X, Camp Drafting, Team Yarding, Stockman’s Challenges, and Working Equitation.
Our farm is on the Billabong Creek, between Holbrook and Culcairn and just upstream of Morven, NSW. We’re also conveniently located midway between Albury and Wagga.
We believe our alluvial creek flats are ideal for a lucerne-based farming system. We produce irrigated lucerne under centre-pivot irrigation as well as dryland lucerne, oaten hay, and pasture blends. Our focus is on producing premium-quality hay in Bale Baron packs of 21 small bales for the equine industry.
Lucerne sits at the heart of our system. As a deep-rooted perennial legume, it improves soil structure, boosts organic matter, and helps our soils hold more water. With its natural nitrogen-fixing ability, it reduces our reliance on fertiliser and allows us to grow up to 3.5 times more quality feed per millimetre of rainfall than the average system.
Sheep are also a vital part of our pastures. We run around 1,500 dual-purpose, non-mulesed Merino ewes. By selecting for muscle, fat, and growth, we aim to produce more lambs and more wool, more often. Our goal is to achieve 135% lambs marked to ewes joined, turning lambs off at 59–64 kg liveweight (28.5–32 kg carcass) by 10 months of age. Put simply, quicker turnoff of quality stock means a smaller carbon footprint.
We’re a passionate farming family who care deeply about our animals, our land, our staff, and the people who buy our produce.
