Welcome to,
Fellow Hills
Pastoral
Fellow Hills Pastoral is a family-run farming enterprise located on the banks of Billabong Creek in southern New South Wales. We specialise in producing premium quality lucerne hay for the equine industry, along with sheep and mixed farming enterprises.
โ
Our focus is on sustainable farming systems that improve soil health, care for livestock, and produce high-quality feed for horse owners across Australia.
Our Farming System
Lucerne sits at the heart of our farming system.
As a deep-rooted perennial legume, lucerne improves soil structure, boosts organic matter, and helps our soils retain more water. Its natural nitrogen-fixing ability reduces our reliance on fertiliser and allows us to grow up to 3.5 times more quality feed per millimetre of rainfall compared to many conventional systems.
โ
Our system includes:
-
Irrigated lucerne under centre-pivot irrigation
-
Dryland lucerne production
-
Oaten hay
-
Pasture blends
This integrated system supports both hay production and livestock while maintaining long-term soil health.
Premium Lucerne Hay for Horses
Our premium quality irrigated lucerne is specifically cultivated for horses, ensuring optimal nutrition and health.
Grown under centre-pivot irrigation on our fertile alluvial creek flats, our lucerne provides consistent, high-quality feed for the equine industry.
Key features:
-
High-quality equine-grade lucerne
-
Grown under centre-pivot irrigation
-
Consistent quality and nutrition
-
Produced on fertile alluvial creek flats
Our hay is packaged in Bale Baron packs of 21 small bales, making it easy to transport, store and handle.
Sheep Enterprise
Sheep play an important role in our pasture system.
We run approximately 1,500 dual-purpose, non-mulesed Merino ewes. Through careful genetic selection for muscle, fat and growth, our goal is to produce more lambs and more wool more efficiently.
Our targets include:
-
135% lambs marked to ewes joined
-
Lambs turned off at 59–64 kg liveweight
-
28.5–32 kg carcass weight
-
Turnoff by 10 months of age
Producing quality lambs more efficiently reduces the environmental footprint while maintaining a productive and profitable farming system.
